When a URL is shared on social media, platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn read Open Graph meta tags (og:title, og:description, og:image) from the page to construct a rich link card. If these tags are missing or incorrect, the card will fall back to page title and no image — usually a worse result for click-through rates.

Why does my og:image not appear on Twitter/X?

X (Twitter) reads twitter:card and twitter:image tags first. If those are absent, it falls back to og:image, but only for summary_large_image cards. Make sure twitter:card is set to "summary_large_image" and twitter:image points to an image at least 300×157px. X also caches cards aggressively — use their Card Validator tool to force a refresh.

What is the ideal og:image size?

For Facebook and LinkedIn, 1200×630px (1.91:1 aspect ratio) is the gold standard. For X Twitter Cards with summary_large_image, minimum is 300×157px with 2:1 ratio preferred. The image must be under 5MB and served over HTTPS.
